QuikClot Combat Gauze® is the hemostatic dressing of choice stated in the 2014 CoTCCC Guidelines6

After extensive testing by the United States Army Institute for Surgical Research (USAISR) and the Naval Medical Research Center (NMRC), the Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care (CoTCCC) chose QuikClot Combat Gauze® as the hemostatic dressing of choice on the battlefield for compressible (external) hemorrhage not amenable to limb tourniquet use or as an adjunct to tourniquet removal6 (http://cotccc.com/wp-content/uploads/TCCC-Guidelines-for-Medical-Personnel-170131.pdf). Since its adoption by the US military, more than 6 million units of QuikClot Combat Gauze® have been shipped, and no product-related adverse reactions have been reported.
